I’ve been betting poker now for about 5 years, I’ve played cards my entire life beginning with games of Gin Rummy for pennies with my Grand Mother, to all of the various styles of Brag and general random games such as Go Fish, Crash and one so gracefully called, card on head casino game. I used to always win, whatever casino game we were wagering and although I liked to call it skill, it was incredibly tough to justify thinking about the randomness of the games we were betting, so I was happy to accept I was having a prolonged run of luck.
Then came Poker, or far more importantly Texas hold em Poker, made popular by a bunch of Texas card gamblers in the sixties and since grown into one of the biggest card phenomena ever seen. Poker is absolutely the new black, it’s super awesome with many of the world’s leading superstars racing to have their name connected with it. Just a quick flick via the TV channels nowadays and you’ll be able to not escape from poker, and certainly there’s the fabled WSOP, the Holy Grail and Mecca all rolled into one for every single gambler.
So with all of this new found popularity, with so a lot of Tv shows devoted to poker, and magazine and book shelves filled up with quality material written by the foremost minds on poker, when are men and women going to understand that this game is all about position!?
Perhaps I ought to not obtain so worked up about this, after all the more people who have difficulty with the subtle tactics and approaches necessary for succeeding consistently at Hold’em, the better it’s for everyone else, appropriate? I mean, if they cannot be bothered to read all of the readily available data about why placement is so critical, why ought to we bother? We should just be happy there is one more fish at the table!
It’s true, we really should not encourage procrastination with guidance and assist. On the other hand, I liken this to a helpful game of football. Granted the levels aren’t so high, except when you notice a player struggling, you assist them, provide them some advice, ultimately showing them a way to like, like and be grateful for the casino game as much as you. I’m calling on all house players to do the same thing with their poker friends who have not quite got a handle on the subtleties of wagering position. Aid them to grow their respect for the game. Of course, do not attempt to try this one in your neighborhood gambling house, the sharks won’t take pleasure in you instructing their supper how to swim!
