Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandfather showed him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to learn every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil would tell his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not let the negative feedback from others annihilate his dream of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.
Phil started playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed many of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and always strives to get better.
Even though Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
