Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to achieve final game in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. He won a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest players anywhere in the world. While participating in internet poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. He regularly competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen usually buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I accept that Hansen is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has absolutely no reason to play at the table with the minimum buy-in.

Playing for the minimum takes most of the ability out of deep stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be one of the best poker players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total amount. I believe television can alter our perception of the real world sometimes. The greatest players anywhere in the world might just be guys you have will not have heard of. Gus can be seen competing in internet poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in high stakes omaha high and Holdem. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in money rounds?
