Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only one to achieve closing game in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a big pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the best players around the world. While playing internet poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. He often competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus usually buys in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits for a good hand and then pushes all in. I accept that Hansen is a great poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless he is broke, he has little or no reason to play at the table with the minimum buy-in.
Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the ability out of big stack poker. Gus is accepted to be 1 of the greatest players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amt.. I think television can skew our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest players in the world might be players you have will not have heard about. Gus can be found betting on web poker on Full Tilt. He commonly plays in big stakes omaha/8 and texas hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his talents in money rounds?
