Online poker has become world acclaimed as of late, with televised events and celebrity poker game shows. The games universal appeal, though, arcs back quite a bit further than its television ratings. Over the years many variations on the earliest poker game have been created, including a handful of games that are not really poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is 1 of these games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely affiliated with vingt-et-un than traditional poker, in that the gamblers wager against the house rather than each other. The succeeding hands, are the traditional poker hands. There is little bluffing or different types of deceptiveness. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to ante up prior to the dealer saying "No more bets." At that instance, both you and the casino and of course all of the other players are given 5 cards each. Once you have observed your hand and the bank’s initial card, you must in turn make a call wager or give up. The call bet’s value is akin to your original wager, indicating that the stakes will have doubled. Surrendering means that your ante goes directly to the house. After the wager is the face off. If the casino doesn’t have ace/king or greater, your bet is returned, with an amount equal to the ante. If the casino has a hand with ace/king or greater, you win if your hand is greater than the dealer’s hand. The dealer pays out chips even with your ante and controlled odds on your call bet. These odds are:
- Equal for a pair or high card
- two to one for 2 pairs
- three to one for 3 of a kind
- four to one for a straight
- five to one for a flush
- seven to one for a full house
- twenty to one for a four of a kind
- fifty to one for a straight flush
- one hundred to one for a royal flush
