Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker contender on the planet by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover everything he possibly could about poker. Phil would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the adverse comments from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.
Phil started competing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a learning experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed many of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an undying love for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s learning every single day and is very humble about his success. He admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and always strives to get better.
Even though Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a regular basis.
