Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker contender on the globe by most of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His grandfather introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup whatever he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the negative comments from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.
Phil started competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed many of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an immeasurable love for poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his success. He admits to making errors in each game of poker and always aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
