Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to achieve closing game in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest players in the world. While gambling on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. Gus often plays in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus usually buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I accept that Hansen is a great poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is broke, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the table with the min buy in.
Playing for the minimum takes almost all of the ability out of deep stack poker. Gus is accepted to be one of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amount. I believe tv can alter our perception of the real world at times. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world might be players you have will not have heard about. Gus can be found betting on net poker on Full Tilt. He usually competes in big stakes Omaha and texas holdem. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his skills in money rounds?
