Poker has become globally celebrated recently, with televised championships and celebrity poker game events. Its popularity, though, stretches back in reality a bit further than its television ratings. Over the years several variants on the original poker game have been created, including a few games that are not in fact poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely affiliated with 21 than traditional poker, in that the players wager against the house instead of each other. The winning hands, are the established poker hands. There is little bluffing or other kinds of bamboozlement. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to pay up prior to the croupier broadcasting "No more wagers." At that moment, both you and the casino and of course every one of the different gamblers acquire 5 cards. After you have observed your hand and the casino’s 1st card, you have to in turn make a call wager or surrender. The call wager’s amount is equal to your original ante, which means that the stakes will have doubled. Surrendering means that your wager goes immediately to the dealer. After the bet comes the face off. If the dealer does not have ace/king or better, your wager is given back, plus an amount on par with the initial bet. If the casino has a hand with ace/king or better, you succeed if your hand defeats the casino’s hand. The house pony’s up cash even with your wager and fixed odds on your call wager. These expectations are:
- Equal for a pair or high card
- two to one for 2 pairs
- 3-1 for three of a kind
- four to one for a straight
- five to one for a flush
- seven to one for a full house
- twenty to one for a 4 of a kind
- fifty to one for a straight flush
- 100-1 for a royal flush
