Ah, the steam. If a poker player claims at no time to have looked down the shadow of an upcoming steam – they are either lying or they haven’t been betting long enough. This doesn’t mean of course that each and every one has been on steam before, a number of players have awesome willpower and take their squanderings as a loss and leave it at that. To be a strong poker player, it is extremely important to appraise your wins and your losses in an identical way – with little emotion. You compete in the match in the same manner you did following a hard beat as you would after winning a great hand. All poker pros are not enticed by tilting after a horrible loss as they are particularly seasoned and you should be to.
You must be aware that you will not win each hand you’re in, even if you are the strongest player. Hands that frequently make people go on tilt are hands you were the leading choice or at a minimum thought you were until you were hit and you lost a big chunk of your stack. Bad losses are going to happen. Embrace that idea right now, I will say it again – if your brother enjoys cards, if your parents enjoy cards, if your grandparents play cards – They have all had poor losses at some point. It is an unavoidable effect of participating in Texas Hold’em, or for that matter any kind of poker.
After all we are assumingly (nearly all of us) playing poker for one reason – to earn a profit, it would make sense that we would wager appropriately to maximize our profit potential. Now let’s say you are up one hundred dollars off of a $100 deposit, and you suffer a big hit in a NL game and your bankroll is down to $120. You’ve lost $80 in a round where you were certain to pick up $200two hundred dollars when you decided to go all-in on the flop and held a ten to one advantage. And that guy! He banged you out on the river? – Well stop right there. This is a quintessential choice for a new gambler to start tilting. They just blew too much $$$$ on one round that they should have won and they are aggravated
